Who is the instructor for the various courses?

Jim Monroe is the instructor for both the Civil PE Exam Review course and the Special California Engineering Surveying Exam Review courses.

If I miss a lecture or more of a course, what are my options for making it up?

You can attend the missed lectures at any of the venues provided space is available – so you'll need to check with us beforehand to make sure that we can accommodate you. There are no other alternatives at this time. No fee adjustments or partial refunds will be made for missed lectures.

Why is the California Special Civil Engineering Surveying Exam Review course offered only via a live webinar and not in the classroom?

Because the number of students at each venue is too small to justify the costs of classroom delivery. However, when Engineering Surveying students at all venues are taken together as a single group, the costs to deliver the course content can be recovered if done in a single session, as is possible via a live webinar.

For how long has Jim Monroe been teaching Civil PE Exam Review and Special Engineering Surveying Exam review courses, and what have been the passing rates of his students?

Jim began teaching the Civil PE Exam Review courses for Michael Lindeburg in 1988 at Menlo College in the San Francisco Bay Area.  After two years of supervised training and practice under Michael, he established the Sacramento venue where he has taught uninterrupted since.  In the late 1990s he went on to establish the Burbank/Pasadena/Glendale venue, then on to San Diego, then Irvine, Redding, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and occasionally returning to the San Francisco Bay Area to deliver either portions of the Civil PE Review course there or the California Special Civil Seismic Principles & Engineering Surveying Examinations.  After the October 2010 exam cycle, Jim established California Civil PE Review.

Passing rates for Jim's venue in Sacramento in 1990 was 84% (which included passing all three exams – Principles & Practice, Special Engineering Surveying, and Special Seismic – in order for a student to be counted as passing).  Since that time Jim’s  statistics have been aggregated with those of other instructors at various venues, resulting in a consistent passing rate in the mid 70% range.  Since starting California Civil PE Review, the passing rates are somewhat higher.

Will I need special equipment to participate in the live online webinar sessions?

Most modern (no more than two or three years old) computers with audio and video capability will work.  You might want a microphone if you want to ask questions verbally rather than typing them in a browser window during the sessions.  A complete list of technical requirements will be provided to enrolled students well in advance of the online sessions.

Do you offer a review course for the California Special Civil Seismic Principles exam?

No.
